Gem

Location

I am not a flower

with rays and insects to make

pink, velvety, elegant petals

to bloom and swoon on someone's gate

I am no sweet

who must be watched and created

needing everything in nature

to make my taste elated

I am no angel

a savior with Christ

given golden wings

and a priveledge to fly

I am a gem

ruffed and whethered

toughened through years of pulling together

chipped and damaged

nicked and dropped

hidden for years but hard as a rock

I am a gem

surface shining like stars

sun reflects the scuffs and scars

I glitter and shimmer through dust and decay

to brighten the life of someone each day
