Gandhi's Guns
Bang!
Bang! Bang!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Eye for eye and gun for gun,
Till the whole world’s shooting at each other.
Every one of us, out on the street and afraid.
In the park, at the club, school, or a concert,
Bang, you’re dead … bang, bang, bang … loved ones gone.
Some crazy with a gun started it,
The police shot back,
A nutty, wannabe-good-guy joins in,
The police shot him.
Remember when dressed to kill meant sexy?
Not any more, it’s all gotten so messy.
Looking quite normal, dressed like us all,
Just looking for targets, they roam the mall.
With a hurricane brain, crazy is as crazy does.
Who could have known?
And, who makes the call?
It’s always to late when the innocent fall.
Who are the good-guys?
And who are the bad?
No one could tell,
People got hurt, and the loved ones fell.
All of us, caught in the crossfire.
Helpless and wounded, we burry our dead.
Afraid in the light, guns pointed at us,
Has made us all mad,
The shooters are mad,
The innocent are mad,
The gun-nuts are mad,
The whole country’s gone mad.
Eye for Eye and gun for gun.
What have we become?
We can’t control men. But,
We can control the gun.
