Forgotten

Forgotten...it is the word that relentlessly echoes in the mind

It clatters down the stairs in the night, an unseen foe

Convincing that there is nobody who understands

No one who cares

This lone thought carries the promise of hopelessness

It drags down until one thinks that they can't continue living

Contentment and joy glide away on the wind

Life becomes existence

This solitary emotion steals away that which is worth keeping

It whispers the words that no one loves you

The idea grows in the mind and takes root

The thought that leaping over the edge of eternity is the only escape

The only kind act that one could do for their loved ones

It holds their hand as they make the final leap

If only they had known...they weren't forgotten
