she died and it was so strange
i never understood how they would say
one minute here
and the next gone
but that’s just how it happened
and i feel guilty because i keep forgetting
i keep smiling and laughing
before i remember that she’s dead
and i love her i do -
or maybe i loved her and do not anymore
or maybe i never cared at all.
now that i think about it
it never mattered much anyway
i forget who she was
i never loved her at all

I think the part about feeling guilty is so true though, like when someone dies and you continue to live your life and then you remember that the person is gone so you feel bad for having a good time. Great poem! :)

thank you so much! I think that's the worst part about losing someone; when you feel like you can't even live your life anymore.
