Of Forests and Towns

Hello brave beauty, hello endless night,

goodbye static inability,

hello tireless flight.

Open up, I say

Open up, I call,

Here it is, I say, this is how we fall,

This is the way,

take one step closer to the edge my love,

now look down,

don’t you see it?

you’re entire life in one tiny town.

Run back, my tiny fighter,

run back to the trees,

let your bare feet fly till you fall to your knees,

look up to the sky,

that’s right, good,

now open yourself up to the birds and

the wood.

Hold on lovely warrior, please hold

on tight,

it’s beginning, don’t you feel it?

your quest, your fight.

I see there’s dirt underneath your

skin

I see there’s pine needles in your

blood,

that’s right, open the gate, let in the

flood.

You’re on your way, my dear,

on your way out,

just a few more steps and you

will learn how to shout.

Feel those flowers in your hair?

They have the love too,

a love so violent they want to share it

with you,

so listen to them, darling,

listen to that blue stream tall,

listen to the old, dark mountains,

obey their every call,

listen to that deep stirring

purr in the pit of your womb,

my child, that is Yourself,

resurrected from the tomb.

Open up your grave, claw

Yourself free

crawl to the forest, climb to the sea,

let that purring earthquake go,

do as I say,

let her go, let your wild woman find

her way.

Don’t look back, there is nothing left in the

town,

That’s where you lost everything

your kingdom

your crown.

Search here, vicious warrior girl,

under the moon, yes,

the stars are coming,

they want to find it too.

Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten everything

you knew,

about the bears, and wolves, and the color blue.

Don’t you understand it?

Don’t you feel it hidden behind the curtain below?

The dirt, and dust, and

the trees sweet glow,

it’s all right here, you can have it again,

But you have to want it,

to want it to begin.

You’re so close, Sliver Moon Bird,

you’re almost there,

remember the flowers and wings in your hair,

remember the forest

caterpillars dangling from your ear,

yes my love,

Yourself is out here.

Now you know, so go find her,

She’ll want to see your face,

to take you away from that little

townplace,

She is here, don’t you feel her?

She’s roaming the wood,

Don’t you want to find her?

Because, baby, you really should.

I know you can tell, you know She is near,

go on now,

you have nothing to fear.

Do you smell that, my fine warrior?

Familiar, I know,

That ancient-magic scent will follow

where you go.

Why?

Why do you think, my dear?

The time is now, the time is here,

Snap the twigs call

Blink say the stars

Shhh says the moon

Youself is not far.

There are leaves under your

toes, dirt on your skin,

love in your body,

let it in

let it in.

Hush you say, but you don’t know whom to,

The forest is silent as you breathe till

you’re new.

There she is, at last, from

behind a birch she steps,

like the sun and the moon, like

every secret you’ve ever kept,

Here is Yourself, on the edge

of the night,

Thank God you opened up,

thank God you were in the fight.

Tripping and stumbling you run

to her,

flinging your body into her embrace,

she cries in soft tears as she

strokes your face.

I’ve missed you she smiles,

I’ve missed you too,

Look at you, she says, you barely grew.

Why did you leave me? you ask as she wipes

tears from yellow eyes

She says

I am very bad at hellos and goodbyes.

It’s easy to lose me, she explains, but

hard to find me again

It’s raining now, even though the skies are clear,

and you and Yourself huddle

close and dear.

The sky breaks wide,

the night is alive,

everything is pulling from your

inner inside.

You and Yourself are

together once more,

and you’re beating heart is not

something to ignore.

The earth caught

in your palms,

the smell of the rain,

something else is winding through your veins.

Your eyes only close for the time

it takes a star to die,

but when they open

Yourself has left without saying goodbye,

Your heart stops beating, but when

it starts again,

You have found Her,

Because finally, she is within.

Slowly we stand under the

blue mountains blessing,

lighter now that our soul is undressing,

Quietly we wander through the forest

trees tall,

lost on a path, we have taken our fall,

Flowers sing their praise,

white wolves shake their fur

the moon floats down

our Wild Woman purrs.

Hello brave beauty,

Welcome dark Queen,

this is our world,

Here is our regime.
