Flying Away

We should both fly away

like a bird, you say.

Flying sounds much like heaven,

unlike the hell on earth.

But I struggle to lift my wings;

The demons drag them down.

I don't want to deal with this,

but trust me, I know how.

All these birds abandon me;

Alone is how I deal.

But now that you're here in my life,

I'm scared to show you now.

But if you should decide to stay

(selfish of me to hope)

Please lift up my broken wings

and help me fly away.
