The Floating Dead

Location

Six dead in Florida

So hot, so hot

Lines of cars wrapping around

The city, droves of people

A frenzy of flies

Escaping the sky

Calm and quiet luring some back

It was so hot

The rain billowing

Through our streets

The wind peeling off housing

Peeling off our skin

The infectious water

So hot

Breaking through windows

And stealing away our things

Mother Nature’s cavalry

Rushing our homes

Exploding, cracking, bombing

The heat

Pulling us into battle

Now we float around this river-city

In peaceful horror

Our payback, your payback

For what is war

Without casualty?
