Fireflies

As I rest upon the branches thick

My eyes searching the dark.

I'm waiting waiting waiting,

I'm waiting for a spark.

As the world grows dim

My fire lights

And I'm no longer alone.

I share my light

my fire bright

To spread to those untold

I finished waiting for the spark

And now my fire dims.

So I lay the eggs

Sheltered from the wind

They are patiently waiting

To love their cold flame, too.
