Fire

Fire

it's everywhere

it's inside it's outside

some are strong and some aren't

fires are put out everyday

by water

and people

everyone has fire, some flicker some roar

but they all get put out

some new some old, to many new ones than there should be

some are put out by water, by sickness by age, new ones by words

words like freak, slut, weirdo,

they all dampen the flame

they dampen it until it flickers, but most till it gets put out

when a flame flickers, you make it burn

but most get forgotten, left to burn out

my flame flickered, it flickered for years

words were putting my flame out, and i was helping

i put water on the flame, i wanted the flame to burn out

i didn't want the flame

but then i heard someone

they said they loved me

they believed me and loved me

they took the water from me and replaced it with a match

they relit my flame, they made it burn

double the size of it before

they used words, they used love

all i had to do was listen

listen to the flicker, listen to the love

and the flame got bigger and bigger everyday

they refused to let my flame burn out

they sat with me, they nursed my flame back to life

they stoked up the fire

don't let the flame flicker, make it burn

use love

love it until it burns

love it back to a fire

don't let that flame flicker

not ever

not anyone's

everyone contains fire

use it for good

fight to make other people's flames burn
