Finally You Can See

Finally You Can See

Henceforth, go, and leave behind the light

For the only way to go is across the soft silver line.

Enter, slip into the damp fog in the breadth of night

Squint your eyes, squint, no good sign can be seen.

Behind you your past is dim and faded

All around is blackness, you feel a sense of dread.

This almighty stillness makes you feel weary

Deep in your mind, fog makes your eyes dreary.

Fear, Fear, it is the staple of this somber land

It permeates the dark and surrounds the souls lost.

Gracefully, Fear glides up to take your hand

Silent is he, obscure, his wispy hand appears glossed.

You, your Fear, gazes down upon you with empty sockets

His jaw hangs slightly ajar silent but perturbed.

Speechless and silent he is, filled with ethereal thoughts

Yet, filled with purpose, that gaze leaves you disturbed.

Your look hastily falters and you abruptly drop down

Endlessly Patient, he places his glossed palm under your chin.

Gently he raises your gaze to meet his so you don’t feel alarm

Fear’s touch is warm, a promise Fear shall not harm.

Calmy, gradually, he rests his hand near yours

And with brief hesitation you give him your hand.

Soothingly Fear smiles for you, warming your core

And, with a firm grip, encouragingly helps you stand.

Fear, warmth, he wraps his arms around you in an embrace

Cradling you gently as tears sting your eyes with glee.

Happily you hug Fear back, making your tears race

Gliding, flowing smoothly down your face, finally you can see.
