Fighting for My Equal Right

Whether you call it
Racial Discrimination, or
Racial Degradation
Racially inferior minds
Would still have me to believe
My skin color makes me an alien
To my own birth nation
Even Now
I have to fight for an equal chance
To be educated
Proving that I too,
Can effectively communicate my thoughts, and
Be direct, And
At the same time submissive…
Is doable, but why must advancement
Be so Complicated
Brown v. the Board of Education
Ruled that racial segregation
Was UNconstitutional
Affirmative action went two steps further
Saying racial discrimination
Is INexcusable
So why now in 2013
Am I still fighting
Why is then a subtle now
With me as a token
But not an equal eager mind
A pawn for more money
And no promise of receiving the
Support needed for my degree
I mean if I am the only BLACK entering into the class
Will I be given an equal
Objective opportunity?
Valid question, but the answer
Is already KNOWN
However, I will keep fighting
For my equal right
To prove I’m more than worthy,
Better than able, and
Cognitively stronger, than Strong
