Field of Daisies

Sweat lines my dusty brow.

Heaving lungs alternate as between billows,

Each surge breaking my glassy lens.

Far off, that distant cry...

Brother against Brother in that field of daisies.

Those Killer Angels.

Far off, Far off.

The heavens collide.

Earth shakes.

Breaths come in quicker now.

But that shriek: far off and deep within.

Eheu, fugaces labuntur anni: Alas, the fleeting years slip away.

The distant cry, now fading sun,

SLIPPING

A new song.

My lullaby. A ballad of daisies.

They sing for me,

Their murmurings whispered by the sweet caresses of zephyr.

An aria, a lullaby.

A lullaby in man's deafening ears.

An aria in that ever-living song

Of Beauty and War. Of Life and Death.

Man's weak cry in my field of daisies.
