Femme Fatale

As soon as I got involved it was fatal trap
An endless puzzle to break me down until I snap
Lost in your looks, those eyes – how I wish I can forget
Femme fatal is what you are … and a good one at that

You had me with that first smile – your feminine wiles
Your whole style had me acting wild
I hate being underestimated, but you played it
No one but you would see me this acting this way
I thought I my control was full, but now I’m the fool

What was it that you said that went to my head?
Had my feelings on your thread
The thread attached to your fingers
My heart at the tips of your fingers
What a dangerous threat …

So we’re back to square one
If I had a dunce cap, I would wear one
Broke my heart not with fists, but something far more hurtful
I need a doctor, because my heart’s broken – does anyone know how to repair one?

So we’re back to square one
If I had a dunce cap, I would wear one
Broke my heart not with fists, but something far more hurtful
I need a doctor, because my heart’s broken – does anyone know how to repair one?

It’s like you’re my drug; I need my fix
So quit with the evasive tricks
Like a desperate puppy I keep coming back
Femme fatal is what you are … and a good one at that
Because I love every smack

I stood up for you, told them about you
Are you embarrassed?
Am I not what you wanted?
I spoke up when you had no voice
But you turn around and tell me to turn down my noise
Wanted to hold you and shield you
But you say “I shouldn’t be seen with you”
So that’s it, I storm off in a fit
We don’t talk for weeks, and I’m in ruins
Throwing rocks in the creek, crying in confusion
I can’t take it so I run back to you in sorrow
But I can’t find you, so I’ll come tomorrow

I’ll come tomorrow

We finally meet and I try to kiss your cheek
Embrace you with a love so sweet
But you push me away and tell me of your deceit
There are other guys, but do they recognize
The uniqueness of your eyes
The way your lips sparkle in the sunrise
Do they run for you in the pouring rain?
Do they reach for you in roaring pain?

I didn’t know you would cheat when I kissed your cheek
I didn’t know you would leave when we danced
What was my purpose when you never gave me a chance?

So I walk away with whatever scraps I have left
Feeling anger and betrayal with every breath
You weren’t my true love, but I thought you were
All those gifts I bought you … it’s all a blur
Now I don’t feel like crying - only sighing
Looking at the pictures kept in my own memories
Because you shred those pictures already
I wish I could say every ending has closure
Would it have worked? We’ll never know for sure
Because while you’re enjoying fake loving, I’m left with nothing
You may think you finished first, but surely last
Femme fatal is what you are … and a good one at that

As soon as I got involved it was fatal trap
An endless puzzle to break me down until I snap
Lost in your looks, those eyes – how I wish I can forget
Femme fatal is what you are … and a good one at that
