Feathers long forgotten

The days continue moving forward
Flashes of light and people surround me.
But who are they?
His smile is warm and comforting,
Nostalgic and loving.
Who is he that I knew?
Forward we travel, collecting memories,
Precious feathers scattered about,
Yet his smile remains a mystery.
Far away as the sun, but close enough to touch
The smile so dear to my heart disappears.
The fire of his presence leaves only cold despair.
Who are you? Who were you to me?
Where are you now?
Scattered about, the feathers return his warmth.
For my heart and his are always connected,
No matter the distance.
