farewell

Somehow I fell into inferior
Running along brick lines and road signs
Following a shadow that I saw in the mirror
Scraping my soles after your figure

My persistence showed in the blood off my wrists
The wind in my hair, the fog off my lips
Icicle eyelashes in a lack of temperance
Shaking hands to recapture your presence

You would dance alongside clouds
And I would marvel at your timid simplicity
Bite my lip at the beauty of your words
As your superiority fell into me

The lights in the sky walls have dimmed
Yet my shoes still shuffle, with the feeling that I've sinned
The fire in my heart is growing softer
But it's burning hotter and stronger

But wait, you've clutched my soul within
And wait, you've slit my wrists and made me thin
I grabbed your hand when you were drowning
You watch me sink while you are dreaming

And I see illicit words drop from elitist lips
I hear the trees melting through my fingertips
Stranded in this ice land, so fragile in my last stand
Resisting to crumble simply at your command

I'm running back, faster than I ever fell
Crawling towards the light that burns like Hell
Your eyes flame and your heart drowns in shame
With cracking eyes, I wish I never came

So I will run back to my soul
back to the place where I lay cold
While I try to slumber in the place that I bleed
I'll think of you tonight when I fall asleep.
