I fall into darkness

                Where did the light go?

      Dreaming

                I fall

                     Until I hit the ground

    Running

    People are running

                Shooting

                    Falling

                        I see him

    He’s so small

                Run! Run!

                    I cry – RUN!

                                Get away from this awful place!

                He’s doing it! He’s getting away

                   He’s -------------------------------- BANG -----------------------

Oh God no.

                He’s falling in slow motion

                                Fall

                                    Fall

                                         Fall

                                                I’m screaming

                                                                NO!

                                                                     Darkness swallows me up again

There’s a room – a child’s crying

                But trying so hard not to make a sound

                                There’s a monster here

                                                Lurking

                                                                Preying

                                                                                Greedily breathing

                I’m frozen in time

                        I can’t stop it

                                I cry out

                                       I struggle

                                                The chains are holding me still

                I fall again

This time I let the darkness wrap around

                It’s so warm

                                Falling is relief

                                                But then the sounds

                                                                Oh the sounds

                                                                            Crying

                                                                                        Shooting

                                                                                                         HELP!

                I gasp

                     Where did the light go?

                                It was just here

                                      There’s a switch

                                                A match

                                                      Light it up!

Light.

    Dark.

                Stop turning off the light!

                      The evil lurks around me

                                Vanquishing the light

                                     But I must keep it on

                                                Until it goes away

Until the darkness leaves

                And people stop dying

                     And children stop crying

                          And one day

One day

    I will get my wings

                And I will never

                                Fall again.
