Fall Down / Get Up

Lose all hope,

Take it in,

Just forget everything.

Music in one ear,

The world in the other,

Just start typing.

Ten-thousand, twenty-thousand,

The words flow like water,

Beauteous and self-given.

Think you know all,

Break down,

Fall down.

Tears sting your eyes,

Try to keep it all in,

Fail.

In between hugs, gentle kisses,

And “you’ll be okay”s,

Don’t lose yourself.

Don’t know what’s worse:

Mother yelling,

Or found crying in a corner.

Calm down,

Take a breath,

Act like a woman.

Social isolation,

Loss of hope,

Please, God…

Please don’t let me drown.

Take a breath,

Stand up straight,

Listen.

You can do it,

You can take it,

Just one step at a time.

You’re not alone,

You never were,

You never will be.
