The Fall

Fri, 01/31/2014 - 15:56 -- smm1372

Skipping, excited, hyper

Then suddenly falling.

Hard concrete- Watch head!

Arms extend, catching my body.

Someone holding me up, not falling.

"What happened? Are you okay?"

They ask, looking at me for the answer.

Instinctively my hand moves to the pain.

"What happened? Are you okay?"

I hear them.. sort of...

Muffled and behind closed doors.

Yet, they are right in front of me, talking.

Finally looking up from the pain,

I can't see, it's too bright.

My eyes can't focus, blinding.

"What happened? Are you okay?"

I look up to face,  a police officer.

He repeats the question...

I struggle to find words, and when I do

I cannot speak, I try... nothing.

I look down again.

"Do you need to go to the hospital?"

I look up again, struggling...

I sign no...

"Shock ...." she says... "She's in shock..."

I feel fait, weeak...

I long to faint, but do not...

Everything is bright, can't see

People talk, it is muffled, can't hear

They ask questions, can't speak.

I am shocked, stunned and disappointed.

"Are you okay?"

Fine I sign... letting my head drop, tears falling

The crowd disperses, police officers wander off

I am carried to a safer place to rest

Till we try for home...
