The Fall

I watched the last star fall

Eons after the

penultimate human

Drew her final breath

I watched the nebulae

Dissipate like smoke

Once the bright nursery

Of that final star

A mother giving up

Her children to dark

She spawned all the pinpoints

The last eyes had seen

Megaannum had long passed

Before her last child

Saw singularity

Finally collapse

It would not go gentle

It burned in the…sky?

No that’s not right, no sky

Still it burned, boldly

The last child left to mourn

The death of the light

And as it folded in

I remained, The Last

Foredoomed to see the end

Adrift in the void
