To some God is an all powerful being, with power and might
To others he's a mystical being delusional people pray to at night
If there is a God, why do we suffer through pain
If there is a God why does peace in the world continue to wane
If there is a God, why is there disease famine and stress
If there is a God, why did I fail my HIV checkup test
Who would put the world through so much pain and deceit
A cycle of horror that continues to repeat
Why do people continue to steal, cheat, and lie
And why do all human beings have to go through anguish and die
I understand this struggle happens every single day
But maybe your belief would change if you saw it in a different way
Now stop thinking about the negatives for just a second please
And think about that hot summer day outside, when suddenly came a cool breeze
Look at nature and see all the wonderful things that you can find
Think about the stellar accomplishments that were performed by mankind
Think about how incredible creatures can crawl and lurk
And think about the complex human body's ability to work
Maybe this is a coincidence, why should you listen to me
And believe in something that you can't even see.
But maybe if people could see my faith in a different type of light
Maybe all the major beliefs in the world may cease to bicker and fight
Now I'm not saying to change beliefs, that might be to hard to cope
But understand I hold on to a precious belief, and this belief I call hope.

This poem is about:
My family
