fact, pt. 1

Location

sometimes
sometimes the man
is a bat
in that he’s blind
to the fact he’s a gnat
maybe his skull
is still intact
but what’s inside
is cracked

single file
his thoughts march
to the cliff
and throw themselves
in fits to the pit
turned on himself
his own wit
beheads him but in
tiny slits

“see, see
how you can’t
see a thing!”
glee foaming
seethes at the teeth
madness seizes
he cannot breathe
but a grin
wide holds it all
underneath
