Façade

"How are you?"
I'm broken
I'm aching
I'm dying inside
I'm starving
I'm lonely
I'm weary
"I'm fine."
And the façades, the lies keep moving, circling
Like a not-so-merry-go-round under the big top
And what a crazy circus it is
Feigning strength
For the caring and uncaring alike
Why?
Why do we lie
Why can't we let our guard down
No, we keep spinning 'round
Determined to drown
And make it look like we're swimming
Is that strength?
Or is it foolishness
I'm not preaching
But teaching,
And they say the best teaching comes from experience
And experienced I have
The feeling of taking on all the pain alone
And realizing
We have to unite, it
Can't win if we fight it
And thus if I could change one thing
That simple thing would be to sing
The truth out loud
Like a liberty bell ring
Freedom
From the front
To put on no act
But to be genuine
Is what all need
