Eyes Wide Open

Don't worry about me,

I'll be fine;

I just replay these songs in the back of my mind,

They tell of a time that was distant but great

And everyone was happy in his or her own

Unselfish way

But then he came along one dark and gloomy day

And took all of their happiness,

He took it all away.

The people, they turned horrid; evil and mean

Except for this one little girl who opened her eyes to really see

She saw the world and the way it truly was

From the oceans deep to the stars way above,

She tried her hardest to fix everything again,

She even put her life into her own little hands

And when she ran out of time and took her last final breath

That's when they all noticed the time that she had truly spent

And they rejoiced, the people you see

They thanked the girl and dropped down to their knees

They prayed to God hoping that he would see

She showed them how this grace thing worked; so uneasily

She took her life and skillfully wasted her time

To save theirs

And open their eyes
