Eyes

Eyes,

They are windows to the soul they say –

But do they work both ways?

I see the smiles that don’t reach their eyes,

The laughter that doesn’t reach their expressions

But they don’t see my tears.

Eyes,

They are windows to the soul they say –

But do they work both ways?

I see the misery that fills their hearts,

The anger that sparks in their eyes,

But they don’t see mine

Eyes,

They are windows to the soul they say –

But am I the only one who dares to look?
