eye of the blind
No justice
no peace
No racist police.
Our melanin be poppin’
Nothing can be stoppin’ the fluorescent colour that we display,
Just wanted to say
that this melanin we be poppin’ are not targets,
for the bullets that come through,
the flesh of innocent skin,
Their idea of justice is that all lives matter,
But all lives will matter when being black will not cost us life.
‘cause it’s our lives being taken one by one,
With the bullets of each gun,
Chicago, Atlanta many more to come,
Society tend to forget that we are human beings,
so they treat us not like human beings,
but as animals,
it is our freedom to walk down the street that is caged,
it is the way we dress and walk that is caged,
We are a ‘threat’ to them because they acknowledge our success,
The success that they try to suppress.
Being black and proud should not be a crime,
Being black and woke should not cost us our lives,
I guess thats what they’re afraid of,
Us being woke.
Us being aware that the system was not built for us.
The system was never built upon respect and equality,
built by the fact that POC meant nothing to society,
built on the fact that POC must be put down permanently,
We are animals that are not wanted in this world,
animals that are stuck in the same damn system,
Where the kings and queens sat on thrones,
whilst we sat on boats.
shipped from our motherland,
Never to be seen again.
“Murder” she wrote,
“Self defence” they wrote,
He looked suspicious they said,
He looked defenceless I said,
Nothing has changed,
We are still chained,
We are not yet free,
We are still the strange fruits
hanging from the poplar tree,
We are still chained
we are not free,
If only the eye of the blind could see…
