Examine self

Galatians 6:4 New English Translation (NET Bible)

Let each one examine his own work. Then he can take pride in himself and not compare himself with someone else.

Will the world we leave behind

be any better as we found it?

Has love increased or declined?

Has our behavior just denounced it?

Has our life made a difference

for the ones who are in need?

Or has the compounded indifference

only expanded our wants and greed?

Has the gift of sensibility

Passed us by on the way called success?

Has hardness replaced sensitivity

in our love for second best?

“Give me life and liberty”

A great excuse to do what I want

Never outgrowing mental “puberty”

with my peers throughout the land

Many stars in their own eyes

clapping hands in self-adoration

The end is now clearly in sight

breaking the standard of probation
