Esther

In the present, future, and past
God accepts prayers and fasts
As in the book of Esther we see
Punishment removed miraculously

When the king wanted a new queen
Esther was by him seen
God gave her favor in his sight
And she gained the king’s delight

Young Esther was brought up by
Her cousin Mordecai
He told her to tell no one
That she was a Jewish one

Two men had a plan formed
To have the king killed and destroyed
Mordecai saved the king’s life
By telling Esther his wife

The king ordered every man
To bow down to the prince Haman
But Mordecai did not bow and
Disobeyed the king’s command

Haman wanted the Jews killed
Since his heart was with wrath filled
Mordecai needed Esther’s intercession
So she asked the king for compassion

Unless the king had called Esther
He could have killed her
So the Jews fasted and prayed
For three nights and days

Esther asked the king
To come to a party and bring
Haman, to make her petition
For the Jews’ salvation

The king wanted to reward a man
So he asked the prince Haman
Mordecai was the one rewarded
Because the king’s life he had guarded

Esther then told the king
That Haman wanted to bring
Harm to her Jewish nation
But the Jews gained salvation

Haman was promptly killed
Esther petition was fulfilled
Mordecai was respected
And the Jews were accepted

We see how in the past
God saved people through prayers and fasts
When we have many problems
God is able to solve them
