Envy

Who Am I?

I am the voice in the back of your head,

Your guilty pleasure, too much of me and you’ll end up dead.

I am the destroyer of friendships, the corrupter of minds,

I’ll be there to guide you, holding flashing signs.

Take me, need me, you want me, your favorite shade of green,

You won’t stop until you have me, and know the things I’ve seen.

I can give you all of your wildest dreams, drive you crazy if you so please.

Yes all of this and more, all of this with ease.

Don’t be silly, you know you can’t escape me,

I’m latched on like a tick, or a flea.

I’m here, I’m there, I’m watching you, and I know what’s best for you,

I know what you want, I know what you need- I’ll tell you what to do.

Listen to me and you shall receive,

Give up on me and I’ll still return in one way or another, just believe.

I am indestructible, sneaky like a fox,

Others should take caution when my presence is near for I’m sharper than jagged rocks.

I can give you the world, all you have to do is reach out and take it,

I can help you surpass all the others with my cunning and wit.

I’ll always be at your side, whispering in your ear,

Helping you acquire the things you find so dear.

Let me flow through your mind,

Taking over your actions and making your eyes go blind.

So that your heart may palpitate at the riches,

and seize the moment to grant your wishes.
