At the End of the Day
It’s all up to you;
At least that’s what we say
In hopes that the future
Is ours for today
The world keeps on spinning
In layers and webs
Of honest intentions
And thin, broken threads
And we try to make right;
We try to do good
We pressure our girls,
Put our boys in the hood
“It’s all up to you!
The future is yours!
Don’t let life stop you,
Your heart is secure”
“Nothing can touch it
You have the choice
To live on emotions
Forget all the noise”
“Follow your heart,
The damage be damned,”
But nobody tells you
About the blood on your hand
See, cause brings effect
In all that we do;
When we sit and just watch
From our room with a view
The future can’t be owned;
Chaos can’t be planned
It all depends on what we do
With the blood that’s on our hand
The things we see
And hear, and think
This present moment
Our souls on the brink
Of Something
Something hidden,
Something real
Something so elusive
That it needs a word appeal
We call it Love
We use it for everything
Our food, our partners
And the endless dreams it may bring
Is it an action?
Is it a feeling?
Or is it a person,
Living inside you and me?
“It’s all up to you,”
At least that’s what we say
Knowing that Love is a choice
That we all must make
At the end of the day
