The Encourager

I get the call

It feels as if I have walked smack into a wall

The tears begin to fall

I am going through the motions

Not understanding such notions

This brings back so much pain

But my sorrow is all in vain

You have suffered for so long

I am proud of you for being so strong

You loved those who were wrong

Kindess came easy to you

You used to love being by the water's blue

But now you are with the sky's too

This is a dream

This is a stitch in the seam

The seam is life

Life is filled with strife

You want me to give my best

And I will strive to as you rest

I love you

Agape through and through

My family was near you to the end

I cannot pretend

There is a whole that needs to mend

You were a great guy, brother, and friend

Guilt eats those away

They feel they have to pay

You would not want it that way

You forgave

Even when people would misbehave

I thank you for shaping me

Into the person I ought to be

You encourage my sister and I

We will promise to strive high

It is never easy to say goodbye

It still has not hit me and I do not know why

This poem is about:
Me
My family
