Empty Room

Location

Determent lurks at every corner;

Not visible, not heard--but sensed.

Every pathway blocked;

Every escape route tried.

Sinister silence engulfs the empty room,

But one frantic heart beats.

Waiting--for a chance to

Run.

Exhaling exclamations, truly breathing

For once.

Tasting New Life. Eyes Blinded by Pure Light.

Expecting changes--waiting for changes.

Waiting.

Eyes adjust to see the empty room once more.

Feeling of Pure Light, only a treasured memory.

Eyes focus on one poorly lit corner.

Evidence of escape attempts scream usual accusations at the attuned ears.

They welcome the familiar sound, this time heeding the advice.

Eyes close once more, one last attempt, and open to Pure, Glorious Light.

Everlasting Light has come for her.
