Emotionally Provocative Mirror

You put on your best smile and look in the mirror

Your body is awkward

longs legs, small torso, flat butt

full chest, maybe even too full

frizzy, coarse, hair that can't be tamed

bushy, dull, eyebrows that overwhelm

wide nose that screams masculinity

full cheeks that make you look childish

Is it sad that you hate yourself so much?

Or is it sadder that you fake it so well?

No one knows that you cry almost every time you look in the mirror

Not even your parents, or siblings, or your best friend in the whole world.

But it's not fair for you to put your problems on them

So you bear it

And hold back the water that threatens to flood the room as you glance in the mirror
