The Elegy to Sleep

Good-bye to you, Sweet sleep.
Your soothing nights are gone.
All that is left is restlessness.
You dreams of wonder have not shown themselves to me,
But only nightmares of twelve o''clock and homework still to do.
Every night I wonder what it would be like to drift into your comforting arms
Wishing for it, pleading for it...

You once gave me a chance to stop and breathe after a long and winding day,
A chance to settle and relax,
A chance to recover before a new day broke.
You were the cherry on top of the ice cream that I looked forward to seeing.
Thank you, Sleep, for keeping me healthy,
I could count on you to always come around.
Thank you, Sleep, for your rejuvenation,
Strengthening me for a new day;
For a new beginning.

I suppose now all I will have is our memories.
Sleep, you are gone now,
But I will find another way to keep going without your power.
You will find another child that needs you;
Another child that needs your comforting arms.
I will think of you when the clock strikes twelve;
I will remember you when the clock strikes six A.M.;
But I will continue on when the clock strikes 7:30 A.M.
