Eclipse

Dawn fades to dusk
In the middle of the day.
The clouds black to nothing
As I beg you to stay.

The sun has vanished,
Now you leave me, too.
The unfortunate midnight
Swallows each tap of your shoes.

Tears fall to the cobblestones
Somewhere below.
I wave a pointless goodbye
To your invisible shadow.

The sun will return.
That much I know.
But as for you,
Only time will show.
