Ghouls of tranquility lament &

   Sacrifice themselves like pawns

Here in the empire of marble tombstones

Here in the lair of living souls

   Where mortal words find shallow abodes

       & dead ears listen in a mournful wake

As memory erodes

Men of lamentable turmoil slip on

The enshrined crown of hawthorn

    We are enthroned to Earth
