A Dysfunctional Family

Location

 Friends will come

 And friends will go,

 But family’s forever,

 My heart knows.

 A dysfunctional family

 Will squabble and fight.

 They’ll even stop talking,

 Maybe that’ll make it right.

 Some will try

 To separate others

 From anger, resentment,

 Or just plain tempers.

 That family will have

 Just one no one likes.

 But she will get away

 With making others take hikes.

 It’s been ten or twelve,

 Maybe fifteen years.

 The adults remember,

 But the youngest just hears.

 Stories from the past

 Tell of a time

 The family was together.

 Now it’s just a rhyme.

 But maybe that day

 Can be reached again.

 The uncle just called

And the aunt from back then.

 They recently believed

 The instigator wrong.

 They called to confirm,

 And it’s been too long.

 See they recently realized

 Their love was returned.

 The one’s attempt now ignored

 I’d call that a burn.

 She called him at night

 And he called some others.

 Then they called the first

 And messaged another.

 The instigators plan

 Has gone down the drain

 All the family but one

 Is talking again.

 A dysfunctional family

 Will squabble and fight,

 But are we dysfunctional

If we make up and act right?

Only if my family could become one again. Even though, I know that is only a dream and will never hapen.

it will never happen for my family either, at least not fully. it has gotten better though. i get to spend thanksgiving with the aunt and uncle i just met, and instead of the fighting being widespread, it's only between two or three people. never lose hope.
