Dry my tears
hold me tight
otherwise I might
not make it through the night.

What day is this
that I must try,
to hold my head up high?

Why should I bother
to stay in this pain
when certain joy
waits me when I die?

The pain overcomes my body
it overtakes my heart
and weighs me down,
until it becomes difficult to breathe.

Take me Father in your arms
hold me tight
otherwise I might
not make it through the night.

Where can I go?
What can I say?
You tell me to go on
that it'll be okay.

But I look up at you
and ask,
How do I go on?
How do I stay?

You tell me to cling to you,
You tell me that you alone save me.
You say that life is a gift,
You say that you have a purpose for me.

So I sit in the rock
and ask you to cover me.
I rest in the shelter of your wings,
and you protect me.

The pain becomes less
as I sit in your presence.
Your peace fills my body,
and I become strong.

You dry my tears
You hold me tight
because you know I might
not make it through the night.
