Double Reflection

Mon, 06/29/2015 - 14:15 -- MTB1996

I stood before two mirrors

And saw myself reflected...

In one mirror, I saw Me

Standing in gloom, yet sharp to my eye.

There was Anger arching my brow,

And Jealousy reflected in my searching eyes.

My fingers twitched with grasping Greed,

While Uncertainty trickled down my cheeks,

And Fakeness glittered in my too-bright smile.

My figure hunched with Despair

And began walking -

            Walking -

Walking toward a cliff that dropped into Nothingness.

But before I jumped -

         Heart racing -

I turned to the second mirror.

And I saw Me, standing in the morning light.

There was Determination in my jaw,

And Sense in my stance.

Love twinkled in my eyes,

And Thoughtfulness traced my face.

Intelligence glittered in my gaze,

And Grace fluttered in my feet that bounced with anticipation.

Hope settled over me like a sunbeam,

And I touched my reflection -

           No, not my reflection -

Me.
