Dorothy!

Location

Baltimore, Maryland
United States

Red glitter shoes reminds her of home

She hopes if she click-clacks enough maybe she'll get there

Tired of wishing on shooting stars when she's still standing in last weeks clothes

She feels dirty, but

Those red shoes make her feel pretty

Got her thinking maybe she can go places

The sparkles makes her shine bright as if she was that star

But she knows dreams don't live here any more

Any chance she had went away with the rest of her home

Destruction like a thief in the night

Came and got part of her too

So she half thinking right and the other half wishing

On that shooting star that never turns out right

Because those nights haven't been friendly

And the moon does not offer warmth to the cold parts of her

Maybe she'll be lucky enough to find God in that lonely place

She heard if she prays God will meet her right where she's standing

So knees bent, eyes shut, she is praying

Praying for a second chance

Asking God for forgiveness

Because she knows the wrong she committed

She is sorry

And like a beam of light

His mercy finds her right where she's standing

In the midst of her sin

She finds the road home with those red glitter shoes

That click-clack and make her feel all pretty

She is at ease here

She is home
