Doorknobs
Location
Doorknobs.
All brand new and shiny
Unable to wait to find their one great purpose
Only to discover, that as time goes on
They fade and become lost in the rush
Sitting in silence, the endless hush.
Doorknobs.
All dull-faded and old
But they can still do a marvelous thing
See, a doorknob opens the door
Through the door you can see the world
And at you, new experience is hurled.
Doorknobs.
All forgotten and lost
Without them you’d never open your door
You’d never see your great world
Never sense a color, shape or a sound
Never knowing how the world goes round.
Doorknobs.
All needed and never thanked
Used and used and used until they break
Without a doorknob, what would a door be?
Without doorknobs, where would you be?
Stuck in a dark room, never knowing what it is to be free.
