Don't sweat the small stuff

Don't sweat the small stuff
That's what they say
But how can we not
When the struggles we face
With relationships, school, learning to love ourselves, and finding happiness
Seem infinitely larger than ourselves?
When the small stuff doesn't seem so small at all?

We rarely stop to think that maybe, it is

The universe outside of our struggles is vast
And filled with an immeasurable amount of awesomeness

Like laughing till your lungs feel ready to burst
The squish of wet sand under your bare feet
The way your stomach drops at the peak of a roller coaster
Devouring an amazing book
Singing as if the whole world has been waiting to hear your voice
That swell of pride you feel inside when you make someone laugh or smile
The crunch of an ice cream cone
Feeling the beat of the drums in your chest at a concert
The rush that floods your cheeks with rose-colored ink as you talk to that perfect somebody for the first time
Baby animals playing
Hot showers on cold mornings
Fireworks against navy skies
Water running down your throat after a long run
The aroma of baking cookies that envelopes the kitchen
Trees taller than fairytale giants
Trips to your favorite destinations
Finding a true love that feeds off the beauty of your soul rather than your face
Holding a newborn baby
Picking up the phone to hear you've gotten your dream job
Embracing those you haven't seen in ages
The list of awesomeness never ends
So why, oh why, should your happiness?
