The Doll

I was young when I accepted what I thought to be my fate.

I cried at first, but then my sadness faded, everything faded,

Everything but my hate,

and I continued on that path, as was fated.

Finally it all died and was all dyed in an impenetrable black.

My lips curved, but I was never happy.

I closed my eyes and didn't look into it, that pitch black.

my tears fell, but I wasn't sad, sadly.

I glance in the mirror and see a pair of empty, dull eyes that can no longer see.

"Who are you?" I ask confused, yet not surprised

"Where is she? the old me?"

The girl in the mirror whispers, "She is gone you see, never to return, unless you reject it, that fate that someone else has devised."

"How? How do I escape?  How can i claw and fight this detestable fate?"

"If I were to tell you, you would be relying on someone else to tell you what to do, but isn't that what you're fighting?"

I smile, feeling great,

"You're right, but it's too late for me to fight, instead I will continue on in a state of ignorance; into that dark,so nice and inviting."
