We are all aware of the war that controls a soldier chest. The fear of pulling the trigger on an unknown enemy whose children await them like everyone else. The shame of finding children doing a parents job because their parents have died in front of them, We know the sacrifices that they make for a country, But as we salute them for their work we forget to help them remember what they forget and Lately…. He remembers the images of bodies shattering like the champagne glasses he used every Friday night when he constantly heard screamomg He remembers the absence of God on the battlefield The sounds of scratching noises crawling up his heart, scratches that came from beasts, beasts found in the same place that he found the love to cover that Palestinian child from an explosion, He remembers the empty magazine found in the babies cradle. He’s forgotten to breathe, Hes forgotten the controls of his vocal cords so all he can do is scream. So I pray that we help him remember that his lungs arent collapsing but gradually thawing, Trying to rewarm themselves after the cold nights in the huts where all he could do was cradle a gun, Help him remember the symphony found in his baby girls heart beat, Help him remember that not all his days were days where people died in terrible ways, That there were days where singing drowned out crying, Days where God actually noticed what he was going through, That the jail cell he was in couldnt stop him from reaching Gods love petals, Help him remember that there are still a thousands things louder than loaded metal There is laughter That child's smile The chorus found in a cured cancer patient heart beat Help him remember that the lights in the skies are not always flashbangs but sunlight Trying to warm him It is worth it yall With every ocean there is a tide, with every tide there is a shore line, and with a shore line everything comes to the surface so one day he’s memory will as well Those bright days aren’t far soldier Those bright days aren’t far lover Those bright days are here

I wrote this poem after I watched the movie BattleField: Los Angeles. I dont know why the movie affected me so much but when i saw the soldiers and their struggle and sacrifice to protect that family it really touched me.

Yes, I agree. All of this is true. I know some people that has PTSD it is very common in the military. And everything you have said was on point. This must have came from the heart. It also made me tear up a bit. Keep doing what you are doing. Don't let anyone or anything stop you.
