A Dog’s Wish

Location

If I die old,

Bury me in the ground.

A headstone? No need!

Because I’m just a hound.

Please don’t give me

A funeral procession.

And to my pups,

Give all my possessions.

I am a dog

Of the most humble means.

So spend little

On a casket for me.

As my body

Lies those six feet below,

Sing some old hymns

And let your tears just flow.

Send me away

With the words of a prayer.

Pray that Jesus

Will let me in up there.

We just don’t know

If animals will be

Up in heaven

Along side you and me.
