Do You Honestly

Do you honestly think

we cannot hear your screams

your volatile explosions

your coarse verbs

and degrading slurs

Do you honestly think

we do not hear you fight

raging against one another

like waves against a shore

cutting each other down

Do you honestly think

we are sound asleep

not crying salty tears

not listening for the end

when you both go silent

Do you honestly think

we do not hear you blame us

for all the problems you have

for the sadness and madness

coursing through this house

Do you honestly think

they understand

so young and so scared

they do not understand

why you try to blame us

and neither do I.
