Distant Dreams

Interesting how you always appear.
Even as the memories blur and the time flies,
The vivid expression of your face still lingers.
You're there at every turn, and yet I still look for you.
It always seems like I just missed you.
Like the hours shift and you're gone.
I miss you and yet I do not know you.
I know of neither your joys nor fear.
Your pain nor peace.
Although, it seems I miss you simply out of familiarity,
Not a care for your name nor your voice.
It seems I chase you like a child chases a butterfly.
The randomness and eccentricity as you travel,
And the beautiful and magnificent colors you bring.
Never quite understood your role,
And yet I miss you.
