Dirge for My Father

THE DIRGE: (Pa. Adetunji Lateef Adeniji Sooso). Pg1

This dirge is a piece of my mind that expresses me than I can in reality....

Oh! My light is gone
Who can replicate the light you've shone?
Papa! You said "my son,
You'd cry but I'd look at you and smile"
Here and now,
The night is scared of woes buried betwixt darkness.
Oh Papa! you took your last bow
Bravely as you could, with your endowed fierceness

You desired perfection in peace
Long before today episode's piece
How can I sleep in ease,
Not knowing if your six feet is pleased?

You left a message with a smile on your face as you left for this eternal journey
So I heard you sipped tea in the morning
And made sure you were alone to answer death's bidding

Oh Papa!
I didn't pray to tell your stories
To the my cells after they escape my brown sack
Now, that the horse has perfectly retired
My mouth will synoptise your blessed memories

Papa!
All you said to me echoes in my ears
All our fights are out of love we shared
You cared, I care
You scared, I scare
What now?
You've left
We belong to God and to Him we shall return
Bye bye Papa! (Alh. Adetunji Lateef Adeniji Akano ... Sooso Mogani Wahabi)
