Different On the Inside

I am standing here trying not to shed these tears

This isn’t me

I am supposed to be the strong one

The warrior.

But, here I stand quacking in boots at the enemy lines

You won’t ever know

Because I’ll smirk and say

“Take your best shot and fire away.”

On the inside I am cracking

Facing you is like facing a mirror

I am your flesh and blood

How can I truly take aim?

I have begun to turn away

I want to let you crumble in your own war,

But you drag me back

Holding what I love the most as ransom

You know I can’t turn away

You know I am still scared

But remember this

Fear shows we still feel

If I can still feel I can learn to beat you

And let your kingdom crumble down
