Didn't make it

Tue, 06/09/2015 - 12:13 -- Ajenaeh
I was just a young black man
Walking down the street
I should've held my head high
Instead of looking at my feet
The perfect target because I wasn't confident
Because of my skin tone I was prominent
No one understands the struggle that comes with this skin tone
Every day I wake up and I'm in an invisible war zone
Why must things be this way?
Stereotypical problems I deal with everyday
I have this black cloud over me
Because of my ancestry
Can't society see?
They're holding me back so I can't BE!
I was just a young black man
Who like others
Didn't make it to the end
This poem is about:
Our world
