A Demon's Humanity

The endless circle I broke

Was but a link in a chain,

A small orbit amongst a galaxy

To love and lose, to build and crumble,

This indefinitely repeating cycle,

A fitting fate for one such as I

This hope and glimmer that fills me,

Its strength cannot be denied,

Yet it exists only to torture me

Even so, I refuse to prevent it!

For without this pain, without this torture,

I would forget my humanity once more

My existence, identity, my very sanity:

All dependent on my love for another,

To such an extent that without love, I am nothing

I know not if I have the power to change,

For it it irrelevant; for whether I’m an innocent human,

Or a vile demon, I am who I am – and I love myself unconditionally.
